MIND LAB.ORG MILITARY & SECURITY RESEARCH
There are a number of ways in which the specialist biophysical research we undertake has applications in these areas.
For example, we have explored the effects of sleep deprivation on cognition and affect, studying the impact on key mental tasks such as problem and decision making.
Using ambulatory EEG readings can be taken under even the most rigours of conditions to examine brain activity in response to the types of stressful situations frequently encountered.
Information processing under extreme conditions is also amenable to study and can yield useful results in terms to the rate at which data is presented to analysis and action.
Analysis of non-verbal micro-movements through the use of video, whether taken covertly or overtly, can produce useful information about levels of stress or anxiety in target individuals. So too can voice stress analysis.
Finally eye-tracking, either by itself or in conjunction with EEG readings can offer insights into the way key aspects of the environment are being scanned and the visual data processed.
